How to manage Triggers...

A deep look into how triggers are formed in the body,
they are the ultimate in automation

Our courses and programs involve going on a deep inward journey.

Whilst on that journey it is likely that you will enter territory that you have not felt before.

Triggers commonly rise to the surface.

The trigger mostly originates from either the facilitator, your family, partner or one of your fellow students.

This page is a free resource to help you navigate through the maze of triggers and discover the gold in each and every one.

Triggers are the ultimate in automation

  • You find a problem
  • create a solution
  • as a solution works
  • you automate it

This works in positive, neutral and negative situations.

In fact our body mind is an automated system generally focused on comfort.  We reject the very things that cause discomfort rather that looking a little deeper at the reason behind the discomfort.

This automations works really well until it doesn't work anymore, just like in a factory you can produce the same outcome/product until the end result changes - the customer/workplace/relationship doesn't want to buy anymore.

Unfortunately, if you don't have dynamic skills/awareness, like a factory you may keep producing a result beyond what is needed or required when created in the first place.

Triggers are the end product of an automated response.

To change the trigger, it is important to understand what caused it, the purpose it serves, and to question its validity in the present and the value of the trigger for the future.

Recognising triggers

+ What has created them

+ Why do we still hold on to the experience of the trigger

+ Why don't we choose.. another experience

To move on it takes courage, trust, honesty and ownership.

NOTE:

When a trigger happens it comes from a deep place within, it unsettles the entire automation above it, it destabilises you OR does it wake you up?

We cannot change how someone turns up in our world...

BUT we can choose how we interact or don't interact with them.

As long as we believe we have no power others will utilise the space we leave OPEN

by not making our own choices,

keeping our voices quiet,

by allowing others to take action on our behalf

*turning off or down, the expression of who we are.

"When we understand who we are and our value this will no longer be an issue"

What to do when you get triggered not only in this group but in life.

  • Pause and feel the energy it brings up - This energy may come in the form of what you have #labeled as Anger, Sadness, rage, frustration, anxiety, guilt, shame, sorrow, jealousy just to name a few
  • Own the experience and allow it to be felt. see #feel
  • Let go of the blaming of anyone and allow your younger self expression and feelings to meet your older wiser self. Ensure at all times your voice, and body is allowed to have its expression and experience (I mean let your hands and arms move how they wish to move, let your sound and voice say and sound the sounds and words it wants to say)
  • As suggested, write it in your journal, not to cement a truth but to get it out and reflect on it later in a detached way.
  • Please remember most people are innocent
  • We come together with our own stories, projections and lens.  This is a pre constructed web of self, you are meeting another's web.  There is always truth in the exchange.
  • Our stories will change as will theirs. The only constant in life is change.
  • Please take responsibility for your triggers and realise that each and everyone in this group at some stage will be your catalyst for change.
  • First ask yourself for help before you ask anyone else for help.
  • Come with your own possibilities and solutions to discuss.
